HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team began the new basketball season on the road at Harlan County last night.  
The Black Bears beat the Cougars 69-52.

Up next for the LCC Cougar boys and Lady Cougars, will be a Boys/Girls doubleheader at home against Jackson City this Friday.  The boys play at 6 and the girls around 7:30.

The LCC boys also play Pike County Central at home Saturday night.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will next play at Jackson City Thursday night at 7:30.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will face Riverside Christian at home in their next game this Friday at 7:00pm.

Jenkins Lady Cavalier Whitney Creech had 54 points and 13 rebounds on 83% shooting in the Lady Cavs season opening win on the road at Pikeville Monday night. Jenkins won 76-71. The junior is less than 100 points away from the 3000 point mark in her high school career.

Our first broadcast of the new basketball season will be this Monday December 8 as we bring you the LCC Lady Cougars game against Betsy Layne at LCC.  Game time is 8:00pm.  Appalachian Wireless Pre-game begins at 7:30.


UK BASKETBALL PLAYS FRIDAY

The #1, 7-0, UK Wildcats will be back in action Friday night against Texas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.  The game between the Cats and Longhorns will be at Rupp Arena in Lexington with Tipoff at 7:00pm.  Pre-game begins at 5:30 here on the Bulldog.



HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THIS WEEKEND

The State High School Football Championship games are set this Friday and Saturday at LT Smith Stadium on the campus of Western KY University in Bowling Green.


On Friday at 11am in Class 3A Belfry takes on Louisville Central
At 2:30pm DeSales plays Newport Central Catholic in the 2A championship game
and at 6:00pm Friday in Class 5A Pulaski County will battle Graves County

The other 3 games will be Saturday

At 11:00am Mayfield will take on Williamsburg in Class A
2:30pm Saturday, in Class 4A Owensboro will face Highlands
and at 6:00pm Saturday in 6A Trinity plays Dixie Heights.
