In high school wrestling news, The Ben Fisher Memorial Tournament will be held this Saturday at Martha Jane Potter Elementary Gym at Kona.
Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Belfry, Perry Central, and Letcher County Central will be participating.

Weigh ins are at 9:00 am and wrestling begins at 10:00 am.

Admission $5.00 adults/$3.00 students

In high school basketball,

The girls All A State Tournament got underway yesterday in Frankfort.

13th Region champ Harlan Ind advances to the quarterfinals with a 51-38 win over 15th region champ Paintsville.

14th Region champion, Leslie County beat KY Country Day 70-20 to move on to the quarterfinals.  

Other games yesterday at the girls All A Murray beat Danville 66-37, Monroe County beat Covington Holy Cross 52-49, it was Trimble County beating Presentation 35-23, West Carter over Owensboro Catholic 58-55, Crittenden County beat Sayre 45-42 in overtime and Nicholas County over Green County 57-54. 

Friday's girs quarterfinals will be Friday.  

Murray plays Monroe County at 8:30am
Trimble County faces West Carter at 10am
Harlan will play Crittenden County at 11:30 Friday morning and Leslie County will play Nicholas County Friday at 1.

The semi-finals will be Saturday and championship game Sunday.  

The Boys All A State Tournament begins today in Frankfort with 8 opening round games.  

15th Region champ East Ridge plays Russellville at 10:00 this morning, 14th Region champ Cordia will take on Newport Central Catholic at 11:30am and 13th Region champion Pineville will face Owensboro Catholic today at 5pm.

Tonight's games across the mountains in girls action:

Perry County Central plays at Buckhorn
Riverside at June Buchanan
and Shelby Valley at Magoffin County

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will be on the road tonight in Jackson to face Breathitt County with JV at 6:30 and varsity at 8.  The LCC girls will then face Jenkins in a district game at home on Saturday at 3:30.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next play Hazard at home tonight at 6 and 7:30 and then play at Letcher County Central on Saturday.

Boys games across the mountains tonight:

June Bachanan is at Jackson City
Barbourville plays at Corbin
Pike County Central at Lawrence County
and Breathitt County is at Wolfe County

The LCC Cougar boys will next face Jenkins at home in a district game this Friday.  We'll bring you the game live here on the Bulldog with pre-game at 7.   The Cougar boys will then play at Powell County at 3:30 on Saturday.

Up next for Jenkins boys will be the game at LCC on Friday.  They will then play at Red Bird on Saturday.


The KY WildCats will go out of conference and play in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge this Saturday when they face Kansas.  Tipoff is at 6:15 with pre-game Saturday at 4:30 here on the Bulldog.

After playing three of its last four games away from Memorial Coliseum, the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team is back in Lexington to face Ole Miss tonight at 7pm.
