Local Sports Tuesday February 7, 2017

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars led the #19 state ranked Harlan County Lady Black Bears at 11 at halftime but couldn't hold on for the upset win, eventually losing by 11, 67-56.  The Lady Cougars Shelby Hall had 25 points to lead the way, Emma Maggard tossed in 13 points along with 8 rebounds.  The Lady Cougars are now 14-11.    Harlan County has won 20 games in a row and is 23-2 overall. 

The LCC girls will play at Cordia tonight at 6pm, varsity only and part of a boys/girls district doubleheader.

The Letcher County Central Cougar will play at Cordia tonight, varsity only with game time at 7:30, part of a boys and girls district doubleheader.  and play at Leslie County on Thursday.  The next home game for the LCC boys will be Saturday against Union VA and it will be senior night for the Cougars.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will next play Allen Central at home Wednesday and at Shelby Valley on Friday. 

The Kentucky Wildcats fell to #15 in the latest rankings after losing to Florida Saturday night.  The Cats are 18-5 overall and 8-2 in the SEC.  They will return to action tonight at Rupp Arena as they host the LSU Tigers, who are 9-13 overall and 1-9 in the SEC. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. with pre-game at 5:30 this evening here on the Bulldog.
