In Friday night's girls 53rd district tournament championship game Knott County Central beat Letcher County Central 61-55.   Both teams advance to the 14th Region Tournament at Hazard that gets underway tonight.

Two girls games are going on tonight at Memorial Gym in Hazard.
At 6pm- The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will take on 55th district champion, Breahitt County at 6pm.  We'll bring you the LCC girls game here on the Bulldog with pre-game starting at 5:30. 

The other game tonight around 8pm will be Leslie County against Owsley County.

Two more games will be played Tuesday.

Knott County Central will face Estill County at 6pm followed by Perry County Central agianst Wolfe County at 8pm.

The girls semi-finals will be Friday and Championship game on Saturday at Memorial Gym in Hazard.

Also this past Friday night, the Letcher County Central Cougar boys went to war with Knott County Central in the 53rd district championship game and came away with the win 70-67.  The Cougars have now won back to back district championships.  Both teams move on the 14th Region Tournament at Breathitt County in Jackson starting Wednesday.   The Cougar boys will open the tournament when they face Powell County at 6pm Wednesday and we'll bring you the game here on the Bulldog with pre-game starting at 5:30.  Game 2 around 8pm Wednesday will be Perry County Central taking on Breathitt County.  Thursday's 2 games will be Estill County against Buckhorn at 6pm followed by Wolfe County taking on Knott County Central.  The boys semi-finals will be Monday of next week and the championship game on Tuesday all at Breathitt County. 

The girls 13th region tournament begins tongiht at the Arena in Corbin with Harlan County against Corbin and Lynn Camp against North Laurel.  Tuesday night South Laurel plays Knox Central and Clay County takes on Harlan.

The boys 13th region tournament begins Wednesday and will also be played at the Arena in Corbin.

The girls 15th region tournament begins tonight at the Eastern KY Expo Center in Pikeville with Pike Central facing Betsy Layne and Johnson Central playing Pikeville.  Tuesday night South Floyd plays Lawerence County and Shelby Valley takes on Paintsville. 

The boys 15th region tournament begins Wednesday and will also be played at the Eastern KY Expo Center in Pikeville.

Malik Monk scored 30 of his 33 points in the second half, Bam Adebayo added 18 points with 15 rebounds and Kentucky rallied past No. 13 Florida for a 76-66 victory Saturday to take over the SEC lead.  KY is now 24-5 overall and 14-2 in the SEC.  Florida falls to 23-6 overall and 13-3 in the SEC.  The Cats have 2 more games left in the regular season.  They will play Vanderbilt in Lexington tomorrow night with a 9pm tipoff. Pre-game starts at 7:30 here on the Bulldog.  They wll then play Texas A & M on the road Saturday with a 12 noon tipoff.

The Men's SEC Tournament will be March 8th through 12th at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

The No. 22 University of Kentucky women basketball team has earned the No. 4 seed and a double-bye in the 2016-17 Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina.   Kentucky will begin the event Friday at 2 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals and will play the winner of fifth-seeded Tennessee vs. 12th-seeded Alabama or 13th-seeded Vanderbilt.
