Letcher County Community Foundation 5k Run/Walk Happening This Saturday

WHITESBURG, Ky. – Summer is finally here and the Letcher County Community Foundation invites everyone to celebrate with a 5k run/walk on Saturday, June 22. Signups start at 6 p.m. with a run/walk start time of 7:30 p.m. at the Jamey Wiley Craft Memorial River Park in Whitesburg.

In less than two years, LCCF has given over $30,000 to community organizations and individuals. Donations include the following:

  • $25,000 to organizations for flood recovery
  • Mountain Strong Award
  • Two $1,000 youth leadership awards to high school students
  • Boulder Run Disc Golf Course (Jenkins) sponsorship


LCCF’s goal is to build an endowment fund to support Letcher County for the future. The LCCF mission is “to improve residents’ overall quality of life through establishing a permanent endowment. Focus areas include flood recovery, education, housing, health and wellness and job creation.”

All proceeds from the event will go to the LCCF endowment. Individual donations are appreciated. Checks can be made to Letcher County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 632, Whitesburg, KY 41858.
