The 14th Region girls basketball tournament got underway last night with two opening round games at the Morton Combs Athletic Complex in Hindman.
In game one, Estill County got by Perry County Central 51-36.
In game two last night, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars held off Breathitt County for the 61-51 win.
The LCC girls had four players in double figures led by Marah ((Mar-uh) Dixon with 16, Sadie Johnson with 16, Alli Bailey with 11 and Molly Caudill with 10.
So now Letcher County Central will take on Estill County in the 14th region semifinal number one at 6:00pm. We’ll bring you that game live here on 103.9 The Bulldog.
Tonight will be the two other opening round games of the girls 14th Region basketball tournament with Hazard taking on Wolfe County at 6:00pm followed by Knott County Central and Owsley County around 7:45pm.
The girls regional semifinals will be Friday and the championship game on Saturday all at Knott County Central.
The boys 14th region basketball tournament will begin Wednesday at the Woods Coliseum at Breathitt County in Jackson.
Wednesday will be Perry County Central against Breathitt County and Letcher County Central facing Powell County.
Thursday will be Knott County Central taking on Hazard and Lee County facing Wolfe County.
