Larry Neal Amburgey

Larry Neal Amburgey, age 73, of Whitesburg, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Advent Healthcare Center in Manchester.

He is survived by 1 son: Michael Amburgey of Hazard; 1 daughter: Tanya Lane of Lexington; 2 brothers: Phil Amburgey of Alabama and Jay Amburgey of Florida; 1 step-son: Casey Breeding of Whitesburg; 1 step-daughter: Henrietta Hensley of Mayking; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service for Larry Neal Amburgey will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Combs Cemetery at Ermine with Tony Brown officiating.

Bobbie Jean Cornett, age 89, of Whitesburg, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Letcher Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Whitesburg.

A Graveside Service for Bobbie Jean Cornett will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Banks Cemetery at Premium, Kentucky with Cullen Caudill officiating.

Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Isaac

Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Isaac, age 67 of Bean Station, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at her residence. 

She is survived by 2 sons: Ronald Brian Isaac of Deane and Noah Dale Isaac of Bean Station, Tennessee; 2 daughters: Geronda Brown and Savannah Isaac both of Bean Station, Tennessee; 1 brother: Tommy Gibson of Knott County; 1 sister: Linda Sturgill of Colson and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Isaac will be held at 2:00pm Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Quillen officiating. 

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00pm this evening, Saturday, March 16, 2024, and all day tomorrow, Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will follow at Deane.

Thelma June Slone

Thelma June Slone, age 56, of Neon, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center. 

She is survived by 4 children: Jessica Maggard of McRoberts, Nathan Maggard of Vance, Alabama, Alan Maggard of Deane and Brandy Bates of Jenkins; 6 sisters: Shelia Mullins of Neon and Shelby Dishman of Lick Creek, Melissa Hall of Blackey, Shirley Hall of Dry Ridge, Darlene McCall of Conneaut, Ohio, and Shanda Carter of Payne Gap; 2 brothers: Paul Amburgey of Neon and Lawsin Whitfield of Palm Coast, Florida and 16 grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Thelma June Slone will be held at 12:00 Noon tomorrow, Sunday, March 17, 2023 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm this evening, Saturday, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to help with funeral expenses.

Andrew “Andy” Adams, age 70, of Jeremiah passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Lexington, KY.

He is survived by 1 daughter: Brandy Pennington of Lexington; 1 brother: Steve Adams of Premium and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Andrew “Andy” Adams will be at 1:00pm this afternoon, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Blair Branch Old Regular Baptist Church with Elwood Cornett and others officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Moses Adams Cemetery at Blair Branch.

Aretta “Charlie” Scott

Aretta “Charlie” Scott, age 71, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by her husband: Jimmy Scott; 1 son: Jimmy Scott of Cumberland; 1 daughter: Teresa Bledsoe of Cumberland; honorary daughter: Easter Blanton; 1 brother: Harrison Thomas of Corbin; 4 sisters: Gertrude Davis, Tammy Boggs, Kathy Craft all of Tennessee, and Imogene Smith of Camp Branch; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Aretta “Charlie” Scott will be held at 5:00pm tomorrow, Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the ECCO Chapel at Eolia.

Wilma Jean Jones

Wilma Jean Jones, age 88, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. 

She is survived by her children: Madonna Haines of Cumberland, David Jones of Michigan, IN, Sherry Green of Columbus, IN and Russell Jones of Knoxville, TN; siblings: Janice Tyree of Cumberland, Stephen Miles of Cumberland, Cecil Miles of Portage, IN and James Miles of Blair; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Visitation will be from 11:00am-3:00pm Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Tri City Pentecostal Church in Cumberland.

Funeral services for Wilma Jean Jones will follow at 3:00pm Thursday at the Tri City Pentecostal Church in Cumberland with Billy Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery.
