Work Set to Begin on Permanent Building for Farmer’s Market in Whitesburg

Work could start soon on a permanent location for the City of Whitesburg/Letcher
County Farmers Market.

According to the Mountain Eagle, the Cowan Community Center has opened bids for construction and will award a contract once all the bids are reviewed.

The Market’s founder tells the paper they hope to get started in July.

The project was awarded $1.2 million from the Abandoned Mine Lands and Kentucky Ag
Development three years ago but the 2022 flood put a hold on the planning.
