Motive Revealed in Case of Prestonsburg Woman Accused of Killing Her Father

The alleged motive has been revealed in the recent shooting death of a Prestonsburg man at the hands of his daughter.

22-year-old Summer Adkins was in court Monday on a murder charge for the death of 62-year-old Jimmy Harvey at his home last week.

WYMT cites court Prestonsburg Police testimony that after Adkins called 911 to turn
herself in for the shooting, she claimed to investigators that Harvey had sexually abused
her as a child and alleged he was currently doing it to another child.

With police saying they did not believe she’s a danger to the public she was released from custody on a $5 million bond and placed on home incarceration with an ankle monitor while the case awaits a grand jury.

Of the family members who spoke to reporters, some agreed with Adkins’ version of events and some said they did not believe the allegations.
