De La Cruz Has Big Night as Reds Take First Game of Series Over Yankees

CINCINNATI (AP) Elly De La Cruz homered, tripled and drove in three runs as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the New York Yankees 6-1 on Monday night.

Gavin Lux also went deep for the Reds, who have won two straight and 11 of 16.

The Reds are 41-38, 5.5 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central and 2 games back in the wild card race.  

Cincinnati right-hander Chase Burns, the second overall pick in last year’s amateur draft, makes his big league debut tonight as the Reds take on the Yankees on game two of the three game series at GABP.
