The Pike County Fiscal Court has been tackling the issue of how to humanely handle
the growing number of feral horses in Eastern Kentucky.
At a July 1 Fiscal Court meeting Judge Executive Ray Jones dismissed rumors that the county had given anyone permission to round them up and kill them.
The Appalachian News Express reports Jones said it is currently difficult to properly interpret the Kentucky Revised Statutes on how the horses can be managed legally.
Some at the meeting suggested contacting state legislators for help in clarifying the laws but also being more aware of how you drive near where the horses are, and how you can protect your property from them.
