Arlie Boggs Parent Group Continues Efforts to Stop Board from Closing School

There’s a court hearing scheduled for today regarding an injunction filed by parents of
students of Arlie Boggs Elementary aimed at stopping the Letcher County Board of
Education from closing the school.

The Mountain Eagle reports three Eolia residents filed a lawsuit in March, claiming the board failed to act in good faith when deciding to close the school which they claim will force kids to take long bus rides to overcrowded schools and will reduce property values because there will be no schools in the area.

The temporary emergency injunction is being sought to stop the Board from taking any
other actions to close the school such as reassigning teachers to other schools.
