Reds Shutout Nationals in Road Trip Wrap Up Win

Nick Lodolo pitched his first ever complete game with eight strikeouts, Nick Fraley and Santiago Espinal each had two hits and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Washington Nationals 5-0 on Wednesday.

Lodolo now 8-6, allowed four hits with no walks.

The Reds, who lost the first two games of the series, avoided being swept for the first time this season.

Cincinnati set a franchise record with 33 straight series without being swept, breaking the mark of 32 set by the 1970 Reds, who went on to win the National League pennant.

The Reds are off today and will play the Tampa Bay Rays in the 3 game weekend series as the Reds kick off a 9 game 3 team home stand at GABP.

Game time Friday night is 7:10pm, Saturday at 6:40pm and Sunday at 1:40pm.

The Reds are now 53-50, 8.5 games back in the NL Central but just 2.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race.
