Whitesburg Woman Pleads Guilty to Trafficking Large Amounts of Drugs in Southwest Virginia

A Whitesburg woman has been sentenced to 145 months in prison after she admitted to conspiring with others to traffic more than 20 kilograms of methamphetamine and fentanyl into Southwest Virginia.

Andora Lee Smith, 62, entered a guilty plea on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and one count of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Smith conspired with others to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl into Southwest Virginia.

Most of Smith’s distributions happened at her home, where she kept several pounds of meth and fentanyl and distributed ounce-plus quantities at a time to customers.

Smith also delivered drugs to Virginia and frequently traveled to Louisville to obtain quantities of fentanyl xylazine for distribution.

Smith worked as teacher at Norton Elementary School as well as John I. Burton High School in Norton, Va. for 15 years before she committed the crimes.
