New Information Released in Murder Case Against Former Sheriff Mickey Stines

There’s been a new dump of information made public about the grand jury hearing of
former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines who is charged with murder for the shooting death of Letcher County Judge Kevin Mullins last September.

While the grand jury testimony was sealed by the court, some of its contents were part of a motion Stines’ attorney filed with the Administrative Office of the Courts which was available to the public.

The information included Stines’ medical intake form calling him “in an active state of psychosis” after the shooting, reportedly unable to understand or even remember what had happened.

There was also testimony from a KSP investigator that said Stines had been troubled for days before the shooting but saying they had found no evidence of any inappropriate connection between Mullins and Stines’ family.
