Grand Jury Votes to Drop Murder Indictment Against Prestonsburg Woman

There will be no murder indictment against a Prestonsburg woman accused of killing
her father in June.

A Floyd County grand jury has returned a no bill for indictment, with no votes in favor of one, in the case against Summer Adkins who was arrested after police said she shot and killed Jimmy Harvey.

It was Adkins herself who had called 911 and turned herself in after the shooting.

WYMT reports the grand jury heard testimony from the investigating officer as well as members of the victim’s family before voting to drop the case.

Adkins had told the investigator Harvey was sexually abusing her niece.
