Hazard Community and Technical College will be launching a culinary and hospitality
training program in Perry County.
HCTC says they’ve gotten $500,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems Initiative.
Their plan is to renovate the former Leatherwood Elementary School and use it for tourist accommodations and a dining event center.
Officials say it will provide recovery clients with new skills while helping transform the community landmark into a destination which will boost economic growth.
