As plans are unveiled for the extension of the Mountain Parkway from Salyersville to
Prestonsburg, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they will be installing a traffic
roundabout in front of Prestonsburg Elementary School.
Mountain Top News reports the plans have the highway bypassing the road in front of the school but to get to it there will be an offramp and onramp system that will loop back under the Parkway to get to Route 114.
Rather than traditional intersections there will be a roundabout which officials say improves traffic flow, reduces congestion, and reduces crashes.
