Jenkins Ind. Schools Helping Students During Government Shutdown

Jenkins Independent Schools has announced that due to the shortage in SNAP
benefits, they will be providing a third meal at the end of each school day to help
support students.

In addition, any student who wishes may take home a nonperishable food item such as soup, ravioli, or ramen noodles, each day.

Officials say this will continue until SNAP benefits are restored.

They have also compiled a list of community resources including food pantries, church programs, and assistance centers across Letcher, Pike, and Floyd Counties.
