Judge Approves Delay in Floyd County Amber Spradlin Murder Trial

Calling the evidence “too important to ignore”, a judge has approved a delay in a
Prestonsburg murder case.

On Friday Special Judge Eddy Coleman sided with prosecutors in delaying the December 1 trial of MK McKinney who is charged with murder in the death of Amber Spradlin in 2023.

The judge’s decision followed a Thursday hearing in which prosecutors said they needed more time for DNA blood and hair evidence to be processed by the state crime lab.

McKinney’ s defense said it violated his right to a speedy trial, but the judge cited precedent from another Kentucky murder case in which the state Supreme Court granted delays for evidence processing.
