Four Mountain Teams Playing in KHSAA Football State Semifinals

The third round and region championships of the KHSAA high school football playoffs were played Friday night across the mountains and state of Kentucky.  

Here in the mountains:

Class A 

Pikeville beat Middlesboro 42-14

Class 2A 

Belfry over Breathitt County 41-14

Beechwood shutout Prestonsburg 42-0

Class 3A 

Bell County over Lawrence County 16-6

Class 4A 

Corbin upset Highlands 35-21

So the state semifinals are now set for this Friday night and 4 mountain teams, Pikeville, Belfry, Bell County and Corbin are still playing for a state title.  

The state semifinal matchups for Friday look like this 

Class 6A

Ryle (10-3) at South Warren (12-0)

Trinity (11-2) at St. Xavier (10-3)

Class 5A

Atherton (12-1) at Pulaski County (11-2)

Woodford County (12-1) at Owensboro (11-2)

Class 4A

Corbin (10-3) at Boyle County (12-1)

Paducah Tilghman (12-1) at Franklin County (13-0)

Class 3A

Bell County (12-1) at Louisville Christian Academy (13-0)

Murray (13-0) at Lloyd Memorial (13-0)

Class 2A

Beechwood (11-1) at Owensboro Catholic (12-1)

Belfry (12-1) at Lexington Christian (10-3)

Class A

Pikeville (10-3) at Raceland (11-1)

Campbellsville (11-1) at Kentucky Country Day (11-1)

The Kentucky high school football state Championship games will be played Dec. 5-6 at UK’s Kroger Field in Lexington.
