A former Big Sandy prison guard could be going to prison for 20 years.
Last week Michael Childers pleaded guilty to falsifying records in an attempt to cover up the assault of an inmate at the US Penitentiary in April 2021.
Mountain Top News reports Childers admitted that an inmate who had come into the guard’s office seeking protective custody had been tackled to the ground and assaulted by several guards, but Childers’ report falsely claimed the inmate had started it and headbutted him.
