Mountain Water District users will likely see a rate increase next year but probably not until at least summer.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission has not yet decided whether to allow the rate hike MWD asked for earlier this fall saying an investigation is necessary to determine the “reasonableness of the proposed rates” and that will take a few months.
In a response to the Appalachian News Express the MWD General Manager said they are anticipating putting the new rates into place in late summer or early fall. MWD asked for a 22% hike which would be about $10 a month for customers.
