Loretta Jean Cook, also known as “DoDo”, age 79, of Whitesburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at her residence.
She is survived by her sister: Mary Gilliam; two great-nephews: Justin Gilliam and Caleb Gilliam; two great-great nephews: Cooper Gilliam and Creed Gilliam along with great-great niece: Aryanna Gilliam.
Funeral services for Loretta Jean Cook will be held at 11:00am this morning, Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church with Bill Craft officiating.
Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at Powell Valley, Virginia.

Virgie Lou Raleigh Scott, age 85, of Cumberland, formerly of Letcher County, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
She is survived by one son: Dennis Delane Scott of Floyd County; one daughter: Teresa Klein of Benham; two sisters: Lillie Dixon of Ohio and Jean Sturgill of Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with one one the way along with 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Virgie Lou Raleigh Scott will be held at 12:00 noon today, Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Tri City Funeral Home at Benham the Rod Raleigh officiating.
Burial will follow in the D.L. Creech Cemetery.

She is survived by two Daughters: Comilla Adams of Cornettsville & Lillian Rathbun of Illinois; three Sisters: Karol Jones of Indiana, Mary Ann Bowling of Ohio & Martha Callahan of Cornettsville; two Brothers: Larry Bowling of Cornettsville & Terry Bowling of Cornettsville; Four Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Maggard’s Mountain View Chapel in Hazard.
Funeral Services for Jeanette Bowling Whitaker will follow at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Maggard’s Mountain View Chapel in Hazard.
Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery at Little Leatherwood.
