Three years after being indicted a former Elkhorn City resident has entered a plea in a manslaughter case.
Court records show Christopher A. Salyer has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle injury and tampering with evidence for a March 2022 crash in which investigators say Salyer hit and killed Cecil Edward Norman Jr., with his car while Norman was walking on U.S. 23 in Pikeville.
The Appalachian News Express reports Salyer was indicted in August 2022 but disappeared and was declared a fugitive from justice. He was found during a traffic stop earlier this month in Dorton.
He is being held on a $30,000 cash bond.
