Jakes Branch Firefighter Hurt While Fighting Commercial Garage Fire

A Jakes Branch Volunteer Fire Department firefighter is recovering after being hurt Monday fighting a fire at a commercial garage off Jones Lane at Duane Mountain.

Assistant Chief Ronnie Dillion and his crew were at the bottom level of the building when a metal object fell onto the back of his neck.

Dillion te lls WYMT other firefighters pulled him out and took him to an ambulance which took him to Hazard ARH with a concussion and strained neck muscles.

No one else was hurt in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but the garage is said to be a total loss.
