Fleming-Neon Sewer Repairs Delayed as Pump Project Heads Back Out for Bids

Fleming-Neon will try again to find a contractor to replace more than 350 sewage grinder pumps damaged in the July 2022 flood.

The work will be paid for with a nearly $3 million FEMA Public Assistance Grant.

The Mountain Eagle reports the recent federal government shutdown slowed the bid approvals process and the project can’t start until FEMA resumes normal operations.

But in addition, the initial request for bids included some unnecessary requirements so the project has to go out for rebid.

The paper reports several other sewer-related projects are ready to go as soon as the federal approvals come through, including wastewater treatment plant repairs, lift station replacements and gravity sewer improvements.
