A Perry County Attorney has been honored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness for his work in seeing that people who need help get it, in addition to, or sometimes instead of, jail.
Derek Jorge Campbell was named Prosecutor of the Year by the Kentucky Chapter of NAMI.
Campbell said in a statement people whose struggle have to find their place in the community too and he has worked with police and other agencies to develop approaches to help people who work for it to get a second chance.
