Letcher County will be able to fix some highways over the next few years thanks to money coming from the state budget.
The recently passed 2026–2028 Biennial Highway Construction Plan will send about $40 million for highway improvements into Letcher County.
The Mountain Eagle reports much of the focus is on upgrading US 119 through Mayking and between Pine Mountain and Whitesburg.
There are also bridges over the North Fork and at Rockhouse Creek and some upgrades in Jenkins.
The projects are all on tap to be tackled sometime in the next three to six years.
