Hazard Police Introduce New K9 Team

The Hazard Police Department has a new K9 team.

K9 Tia and her handler Lucas Davis trained for several weeks in Texas and are now on the job with Tia’s main role as a drug sniffer.

Hazard Police Chief Zach Miller tells WYMT they were able to get Tia with a grant from the nonprofit organization K9s.org.

He says the region has a drug epidemic and Tia will help tremendously in combating that.

But he says Tia and other K9’s can also be used to help find people who go missing, such as during the 2022 floods.
