One of the people facing federal charges connected to a massive Letcher County cockfighting ring has reportedly asked to plead guilty and avoid a trial. Robert Dwane Baker is one of six people charged after federal and state investigators broke up the ring at the former American Testing Facility, which came to be known as the Whitesburg Chicken Pit. The six were set for a February trial but officials say on Monday Baker, who is charged with conspiracy to engage in animal fighting, asked to plead guilty.
