A former Letcher County deputy sheriff who pleaded guilty last month to charges related to imposing sex on women on home confinement is set to be sentenced in January. Ben Fields was a court security officer but also worked for a house-arrest monitoring firm. He was indicted by a grand jury in 2022 after some of the women filed lawsuits against him and the Sheriff’s Office. The Mountain Eagle reports the women alleged he promised to remove their ankle monitors or help then pay for them in exchange for sex. He also allegedly lied to a Judge about one of the women’s whereabouts. Fields pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, tampering with a monitoring device and perjury.
