Second Person Plans to Plead Guilty in Cockfighting Ring

A second person reportedly plans to plead guilty in connection with the sweeping case of a cockfighting ring busted open in Letcher County last year. Over the summer six people were indicted following the investigation into the ring at Isom which was known as the “American Testing Facility” and the “Whitesburg Chicken Pit” which drew hundreds of spectators. Mountain Top News reports last week, Robert Dwayne Baker admitted to helping organize the cockfights and is set to be sentenced in February. Now comes word that Brandon Honeycutt reportedly intends to plead guilty to conspiracy to engage in animal fighting by working as a referee at the cockfights. He has a court date next week. The remaining four defendants are scheduled to go to trial in February.
