FEMA has announced another $1.6 million for Floyd County to buy out some properties destroyed in the July 2022 flood. WYMT reports the money will pay for the county to buy 13 properties, demolish the structures and clean up the debris. The properties must be left as a green space, operated by the county. Floyd County officials say a total of 125 homeowners applied for the FEMA buyout program and most are still waiting.
