Arrest Made in Drug Smuggling Investigation at Floyd County Detention Center

Prestonsburg Police have made an arrest in an ongoing investigation into drugs being smuggled into the Floyd County Detention Center. Mountain Top News reports on Tuesday a Detective monitoring an inmate’s phone calls heard a drop was about to be made. An officer stationed outside allegedly spotted Kevin Conley of Prestonsburg walking up to the jail. Questioning and a search of Conley revealed a system with the drugs to be tied to a string leading back to the inmate’s cell. Conley is charged with drug trafficking, engaging in organized crime, tampering with evidence, possession and promoting contraband. More charges are pending for others related to the smuggling.
