Whitesburg City officials are still tallying the cost to repair the massive water main break that plagued residents and workers over the holidays. The broken main under the Parkway Plaza shopping center was discovered on Saturday, December 23. The Mountain Eagle reports it was under 30 feet of fill dirt from the construction of KY 15 in the early 1960s and there was no mapping, so they had to dig some huge holes and a huge trench to locate the original line and fix the break. Mayor Tiffany Craft tells the paper they have no idea yet how much the repair will cost the City.
