Due to Water System Issues, River Water Used in House Fire Response in Hazard

The Hazard Fire Department says they reached out to other departments for help with a Tuesday morning house fire so as not to strain the city’s water system. Chief Robert Keith says on Facebook the 3am fire on Lyttle Blvd brought out Station 1 and Station 2 and off duty units but in an effort to prevent strain on the water system they had water pumped from the river to trucks and got help from volunteers from Jakes Branch, Vicco-Sassafras, Viper and Avawam. No one was hurt but four people need housing.
