An upgrade is coming for a Harlan County road known to be a dangerous stretch. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says work is scheduled to start next fall for the 1.5 mile of U.S. 421 near the Virginia state line. The Chief District Engineer says the work will include removing what they call the horseshoe curve at Garret Hollow which has been the scene of several crashes. WYMT reports the work was supposed to be done back when Paul Patton was governor but the funding was moved to another project.
