Nancy Carol Smith

Nancy Carol Smith, age 71, of Kingdom Come Creek, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH.

She is survived by her husband: Carroll Smith; 1 son: Matthew Smith of Kingdom Come; 2 daughters: Melanie Cook and Mica Smith Johnston all of Kingdom Come; 2 brothers: Tony Wilder and Johnny Wilder all of McRoberts; 3 sisters: Ronnie Johnson of Florida, Brenda Little and Missy Lucas all of McRoberts; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Nancy Carol Smith will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church with Travis Hall officiating. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm Thursday at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in the Kingdom Come Cemetery at Kingdom Come.

Shelia Bernice Dixon

Shelia Bernice Dixon, age 57, of Linefork, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

She is survived by 1 son: Henry Halcomb of Blackey; 4 daughters: Cassandra Coots of Georgia, Carolyn Halcomb of Linefork, Jessica Halcomb of Neon and April Halcomb of Whitesburg; 1 brother: Harold Dixon Jr. of Turkey Creek; 2 sisters: Virginia Dams of Turkey Creek and Doris Hudson of Whitesburg; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Shelia Bernice Dixon will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Cedar Grove Church at Hallie.

Visitation will begin after 2:00pm today, Wednesday, and all day Thursday at the Cedar Grove Church at Hallie. 

Burial will follow in the Dixon Cemetery at Hallie.

Scotty Dean Amburgey

Scotty Dean Amburgey, age 49, passed away on Sunday, January 28th , 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

He is survived by his wife: Julie Beth Amburgey; two sons: Colby Scott Amburgey and Conner Laine Amburgey; a special nephew and niece: Logan Daniel Martin and Makenna Noel Martin; his mother: Sidney Amburgey; his papaw: Eugene Amburgey and a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and in-laws. 

Funeral services for Scotty Dean Amburgey will be held at 11:00am this morning, Wednesday, January 31st , 2024, 11:00am at Whitesburg First Baptist Church. 

Burial will follow in the Boggs Cemetery at Kingscreek.

Paula Gayle Tolliver

Paula Gayle Tolliver, age 52, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. 

She is survived by mother: Ola Dotson Stevens; 1 son, Dustyn Reinstetle; 3 step-sons: Landon, Jaydon, and Sheldon Tolliver and 1 sister: Angie Casey. 

Funeral services for Paula Gayle Tolliver will be held at 12 noon today, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with James Harold Layne officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.

Ida Belle Payne 

Ida Belle Payne, age 92, of Blair, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at her residence.

She is survived by special family, caregiver and friends, Elizabeth Sturgill of Partridge, Crystal Higgins of Eolia, Alberta Bullock of Blair along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 5:00pm this evening, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Cumberland Valley Funeral Home in Cumberland.

Funeral services for Ida Belle Payne will follow at 7:00pm this evening with Rod Raleigh and Bill Maggard officiating. 

There will be a private burial at the Mullins Cemetery on Roberts Branch.

Shaun Michael Coots, age 44, of Viper, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his Parents: Jeff & Joyce Coots of Viper; 1 Sister: Wendy Coots of Viper; 2 Brothers: Jamie Coots of Hazard and Jeffrey Coots of Georgetown and 2 Beloved Aunts: Charlotte Barnett of Acup and Marilyn King of Happy.

Services will be private for Shaun Michael Coots.

Mason Roberts, age 73, of Slemp, passed away on Friday January 26, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife: Ollie Roberts of Slemp; 1 Son: Rodney Roberts of Indianapolis, IN; 1 Step-Son: Jerry Stamper of Letcher County; 2 Brother-In-Laws: Harlan Cornett and Carlos Holbrook and 2 Grandchildren: Kaden Roberts and Autumn Nicole Stamper.

Visitation for Mason Roberts will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Friday February 2, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard.

A Memorial Service for Mason Roberts will follow at 1:00pm on Friday at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard with Guy Roberts officiating.
