Elkhorn City officials are trying to straighten out their finances after the City Council reportedly learned they’d been kept in the dark about the extent of their debt. The Mayor tells WYMT they estimate the city is more than $300,000 in debt which includes more than $100,000 to the state retirement fund. The Mayor says city revenue is a problem because many residents have not paid water bills since the beginning of the pandemic and the city’s property taxes need to be reassessed, with some paying less than $1.
