Pikeville Psychiatrist Reaches Plea Deal on Federal Charges

A Pikeville doctor indicted in 2022 in connection with prescription drug fraud has reportedly reached a deal with prosecutors and will enter a plea. Psychiatrist Jason Stamper of Coal Run Village was arrested in December 2022 and while initially charged with drug trafficking and possession in Pike District Court was later indicted by a federal grand jury for distributing amphetamine to people without a medical need for it. Mountain Top News reports while he was at first let out on bond, he later tested positive for meth and kept behind bars. His attorney now says he is ready to enter a plea.
