Progress on new higher ground homes and a new senior center brought Governor Andy Beshear to Floyd and Pike counties on Tuesday. WYMT reports 11 new homes are well on their way to being done in Wayland where Beshear met with members of the Appalachian Service Project and community members who lost everything in the July 2022 flood. In Pikeville, the Governor attended the ribbon cutting of a new senior center made possible by state funding of $1.5 million awarded in 2022. Although the ribbon cutting was yesterday, the senior center won’t be open to the public for a few weeks.
