On Wednesday, the KHSAA Board of Control, at it’s last meeting of the 23-24 academic year, adopted the final high school football alignment, effective for the 2025 and 2026 playing seasons.
A draft was approved at February’s meeting with an allowance for six weeks of feedback.
The Board reviewed each of the concerns and suggestions and as a result granted requests by both Jenkins and Phelps to withdraw from postseason football play (and required district play) in 2025 and 2026.
Also, starting in 2025 under the new alignment, Letcher County Central football will drop from Class 4A down to Class 3A and will be a part of 3A District Eight that will also include Estill County, Lawrence County, Magoffin County and Powell County.
