The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they will expedite repairs for the nearly 100-year-old Blackey Bridge in Letcher County which was suddenly closed this week.
The bridge connecting KY 7 and KY 588 at Blackey has damage to some critical steel connections.
Officials say while they have expedited hiring a consultant to plan repairs, there is no estimate for when the repairs can be done.
They say the damage will require fabricating new steel components which could take a longer than usual amount of time for a fix.
