A two-state police chase has reportedly ended with the death of a driver who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office says the chase began in Hazard Wednesday morning with police looking for suspects in a theft.
It wound through Letcher County and included attempts at spike strips and other maneuvers
before ending in a crash on US 23 just over the Virginia state line near Wise.
Police allege the suspect driver was crossing back and forth across opposite lanes of traffic and
ultimately crashed into another car, killing that driver and sending four people to a hospital.
Police have not yet released the name of the suspect or of the driver who died.
