With many victims of the July 2022 flood still without a permanent place to live, officials are planning a new housing development in Prestonsburg.
Called the New Hope Estates, it is the first phase of a plan to build more than 40 new homes intended for those displaced by the flood.
WYMT reports it is the result of a state initiative to get people to rebuild outside of the flood-prone areas but still stay within the Floyd County tax base.
