Defense Attorney In Amber Spradlin Case Could Face Contempt of Court

The attorney representing a man accused of murdering a Prestonsburg woman may be in trouble himself.

As we reported Monday, the attorney for M.K. McKinney, accused of murdering Amber Spradlin in June 2023, filed a motion last week to dismiss the case in connection with how the indictment was revealed and violations of the secrecy of the grand jury proceedings.

In doing so, attorney Randy Martin O’Neal cited other cases to establish legal precedent.

But the special judge overseeing the case alleges the cases O’Neal cited do not exist and he was ordered to produce evidence of them or be held in contempt for knowingly making false statements.

He has until Monday August 19.
