The former Chief of the Blackberry Volunteer Fire Department is reportedly set to plead guilty to a charge related to stealing money.
Christopher Chapman of Ransom was indicted in April.
Mountain Top News cites court documents showing Chapman accepted $77,000 in local government money for the department to buy safety equipment from a company called Rural Public Safety Equipment that he himself created but prosecutors say no equipment ever arrived and Chapman kept the money.
His plea deal reportedly includes the possibility of up to 10 years in prison but also fully
paying back the Kentucky Fire Commission and the Pike County Fiscal Court.
