Third Student Charged in Floyd County School Threat Case

For the third time in a week, a Floyd County School student is charged with terroristic threatening for a reported threat to a school.

This time it was at Betsy Layne Elementary School Monday with officials calling the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office after a student had made “implicit threatening statements” to other students during school.

The Floyd County Board of Education says no firearm was found on school property and no
students or staff were in any imminent danger.

Last week this also happened at Prestonsburg Elementary and Adams Middle School.

The School Board is asking parents to talk to kids about the severe implications of making threats, even as a joke.
