A fugitive wanted by Pike County authorities for heroin trafficking has been captured.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office says Cordell “Gator” Smith of Williamson was arrested last week and is awaiting extradition to Kentucky.
About 18 months ago a Pike County grand jury indicted Smith in three different cases for heroin trafficking.
A warrant was issued but he had not been seen since and was declared a fugitive in July 2023.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office did not give details on how or where they found him.
